Joann Hoggard Whitaker, 95, of North Little Rock, went home to be with the Lord on June 5, 2019. She was born on March 15, 1924 in Enola, Arkansas to Ernest and Estell Hoggard.
Joann was a longtime member of Victory Baptist Church in Sherwood. She was a loyal servant and a wonderful Christian woman. Joann loved gardening, fishing, reading and traveling. She was a loving mother and grandmother who truly adored her family. She was a great cook and was known for her fried chicken. Joann had a beautiful soul and a huge heart. Simply knowing her made your life better. She will be missed by so many.
Joann is preceded in death by her parents; husband of 53 years, Ervin L. "Perk" Whitaker; and two sisters, Selma Wooley and Jessie Lee Glover.
Left to cherish her memory are two brothers, Bill Hoggard (Rena) and Tommy Hoggard (Peggy); two sons, Gary Whitaker (Judy) of North Little Rock and Larry Whitaker (Lynn) of North Little Rock; six grandchildren, Kim, James, Mindy, Joey, Rebecca and Matt; eighteen great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren.
The family would like to express sincere thanks to the staff of Robinson Health and Rehabilitation for eight years of great care.
Visitation will be held from 3-5PM on Sunday, June 9, 2019 at Roller-Owens Funeral Home, 5509 JFK, NLR.
Funeral Service will be held at 1:00PM on Monday, June 10, 2019, at Victory Baptist Church, 10000 Brockington Rd, Sherwood with a graveside service to follow at 3:30PM at Needs Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, 237 State Hwy 287, Greenbrier.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Needs Creek Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, PO Box 842, Greenbrier, Arkansas 72058.
May our Lord comfort all of Miss Joann's family. Miss Joann was such a sweet and caring person. I am so thankful to have known her.

Judy and Gary, what a beautiful lady your mother and mother-in-law was. I'm thankful you had her for such a long time. I know you will miss her but you know where she is now. I will be praying for you two and the others in your family during this difficult time.
To JoAnn’s family: may God give you special peace & comfort in the passing of your precious loved one. JoAnn was such a sweet, caring lady, and she was a blessing in my life.
