Martha Mae Holden

of West Memphis, AR

May 21, 1922 - December 10, 2019

Martha Mae Holden, 97, went to be with the Lord on December 10, 2019. She was born on May 21, 1922 in Jonesboro, Arkansas to her late parent's Mr. and Mrs. Worley.

Martha graduated with a Nursing degree at Crowley's Ridge College in Paragould, Arkansas. She worked as a Nurse at Crittenden Memorial Hospital where eventually retired. Martha was a force to be reckoned with. She loved fishing and enjoyed taking fishing trips with her best friend, Estelle. Martha played basketball for the Dixie Travelers and also held a state record in Missouri for a 100 yard dash. In her free time, she loved spending time in her garden. Above all, she loved and adored her wonderful supportive family.

Left to cherish her memory is her loving family, son, Mike Morrison (Wanda) and Virgil Gaines (Debra); Twelve Grandchildren; Thirteen Great-Grandchildren; and a host of other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Worley; her husband, Henry Holden; two sons, James Arthur Gaines and Darrell Gaines; one daughter, Janet Reece; and two brothers, Bill Hogan and AC Hogan.

There is not a part of my life that I don't remember you being in it. You were my Paps best bud and family since before I was born. You never ceased to amaze any of us. You were such a go getter and when it came to fishing those fish better watch out. You worked so hard every year in your garden swapping out veggies with Carl Franklin. We all loved you so much Aunt Martha Mae and you will be truly missed. Kiss Auntie, and my Mammy and Paps for me and I'll see you soon.
