of Proctor, AR

December 10, 1956 - November 20, 2019

Debra Briley Chrestman, 62, of Proctor, Arkansas passed away at her home on Wednesday November 20, 2019. Debra was born December 10, 1956 in Memphis, Tennessee to parents Oliver and Emma Briley. Later in life as Debra was working as a clerk in the paint department of Home Quarters, a customer came in and noticed her working. After circling the store a couple of times he gathered his nerves, approached and ask her on a date. His name is Raymond Chrestman. Little did Debra know at the time but she would be embarking on a 24-year marriage to Raymond and as they say, the rest is history. Debra enjoyed working in her vegetable garden in her later years.

Debra is survived her husband Raymond, her son Jason German (Amber) of Marion, Arkansas, her step sons; Dale Chrestman (Tricia) of West Memphis, Arkansas and Mike Chrestman (Carolyn) also of West Memphis. Debra leaves one brother, David Briley (Joyce) of Massachusetts. She will be deeply missed by eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren along with a number of nieces and nephews.

Debra is preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Travis Briley, Charles Briley, Royce Briley and Emma Jean Berryhill.

Raymond and Jason may God grant you calmness and peace as you remember the good times you had with my sister Debra. May the last days of her suffering on this earth go far away and be replaced with these good memories. Jason know that in our conversations with your mom when away from you, your mother loved you and she always wanted you to experience the best of life. May all the good times come flooding to your memories as you first experienced your mother's love for you when your father Kenneth was living and later then when she started another life with Raymond. I know you both miss her as I do.
Dottie Rambo's song says it (with lyrics adjusted): Debra heard the call form Heaven's portals "Come home my child, its the last mile you must trod." She fell asleep and woke in God's new heaven sheltered safe within the arms of God. The storms raging high and the dark clouds rising high they won't ever bother her again, for she is sheltered in the arms of God. He walks with her and naught of earth shall harm her, for she's sheltered in the arms of God.

My beloved sister Debra you are now free from all the pain you suffered. I will always cherish our times we spent with you and Raymond when down south. While waiting for the service to celebrate your life, I spent many hours going through the photos in your house bringing back memories of times past and shedding tears. I remember with laughter the time you came home from church and you were only about 6 or so. You had learned the song "Deep and Wide". That Sunday mother had made chocolate pie for desert. When she placed it on the table you burst out with "Deep and Wide, Deep and Wide, there's a fountain flowing chocolate pie. You are now with mama and daddy, Travis, Charles, Royce and Jean and also Jesus. I am missing you already so much. David your brother.

It is hard to believe you are gone. We both married into the German family around the same time. We raised our kids together. There were so many Christmas Eves, Easter Egg Hunts, Birthday Parties, and family celebrations. Life has a way of changing us. You wet on and built a new life with Raymond. I am sure Jean met you at heaven's gate. We will never forget you. Fly high Debra.
