of Marion, AR
August 31, 1963 - November 14, 2019
After a blessed life, on November 14, 2019, Elmer Lynn West was called home to be with his Savior. Elmer was born on August 31, 1963 in Kennett, Missouri to Elmer and Eula Faye West.
Elmer married the love of his life, Jenny, on June 10, 1989. Elmer received his Bachelors Degree from Memphis State and his Masters Degree at Arkansas State University. He served 32 years with Marion School District, 19 years as a teacher and 13 years as an administrator. Elmer never met a stranger and was a friend to all.
Elmer loved sports and was a big fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and the Marion Patriots. He was a referee for 25 years, even umpired for Ole Miss and University of Memphis and also loved to collect baseball cards for many years and was a Disney fan.
Elmer was faithfully devoted to God and lived an honorable life that focused on serving others before himself. He served as a deacon, treasurer, and a Sunday school teacher at First Baptist in Marion, Arkansas. Elmer was always excited and supportive of the mission trips and he loved his Savior and led many people to Christ.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving family, wife of 30 years, Jenny West; his sons, Landon Scott West (Julie) and Caleb Thomas West (Carlee Hutchins); his father, Elmer West; his sister, Melissa West Kohl (Tony); his nephews, Cameron West Kohl and Jacob Anthony Kohl; his father-in-law, John Otto Montgomery; as well as a host of other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Eula Faye West; and his mother-in-law, Mary Lou Montgomery.
In Lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the I Believe Campaign "Renovation Project" at First Baptist Church, 2137 AR-77, Marion, AR 72364.

Being a few years older than Elmer, I watched him grow up through the years. Elmer and I officiated a few basketball games together back in the early 80's and even played golf a few times. I have always remembered him as a good kid during those days. Someone that was always kind, honest, and tried to do his best. Today I will remember him as an even better man.
Jenny and family,
So sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I knew Elmer as a young man when he lived on same street as I on Richland. His Christian influence was evident even then. He has made a difference in the lives of many. My prayers for God’s comfort in the days ahead.
