On Wednesday, September 18, 2019, Jere Bledsoe, loving husband, father of 3 children and 3 stepchildren, and grandfather of 5, passed away at the age of 76.

Jere was born October 16, 1942 in Memphis, to Floyd and Helen (Marshall) Bledsoe. He lived in West Memphis, AR the majority of his life until he realized his dream of living in the mountains in 2006 when he moved to Moyie Springs, ID.

Jere graduated from West Memphis High School in 1960 and attended Rhodes College (then Southwestern), then transferred to the University of Memphis and majored in math. After graduation from UM he attended the Missouri University of Science and Technology, studying computer science. He served in the Arkansas National Guard from 1966 to 1972.

Jere worked at National Bank of Commerce and W. R. Grace & Company in Memphis before joining Federal Express Corporation on February 1, 1973, the first day FedEx was in Memphis. FedEx employees are numbered consecutively, and Jere's employee number was 266. His job description, in his words, was ''IT stuff''. When he began his employment their computers filled an airplane hangar. He retired from FedEx in April, 1999.

In his younger years Jere enjoyed camping, boating, and golf. He also enjoyed photography, and could take beautiful pictures. He loved sightseeing in our beautiful country . He was a movie buff, and loved westerns. He also had a great sense of humor.

Jere was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Maria Daniels Bledsoe, his 3 kids, Jeremy Bledsoe (Christy) of West Memphis, AR, Rebecca Bledsoe (Joel Johnson) of Marion, and Susanna Barnes of Marion. He is also survived by 3 step sons, Christopher Poelstra (Amanda) of Moyie Springs, ID, James Poelstra (Janet) of Missoula, MT, and Craig Poelstra (Nicole) of Brislach, Switzerland. He leaves behind 5 grandchildren that he adored, Alex, Amelia, Emma, Silas and Wyatt, and also his beloved dogs Marlie and Foxy, as well as several kitties.

A graveside service will be held November 2nd at 11:00 at Crittenden Memorial Park in Marion, AR. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the West Memphis Animal Shelter at 500 Rushing Road, West Memphis, AR 72301 or St Jude Children's Research Hospital at 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.

Lived 3 houses down street from Jere while in west memphis. Had several other male classmates during high school. We all grow apart, but remember childhood friends.

Lived 3 houses down street on Roosevelt from Jere. Ran around with him & Wayne Jackson throughout high school. Jere was a great guy who will be sorely missed. RIP, Jere.
