Louise Mamie Parks

of Judsonia, AR

November 22, 1923 - February 15, 2020

Louise Mamie Parks, 96, of Judsonia passed away on Saturday, February 15, 2020. She was born on November 22, 1923 in Beebe, Arkansas to Roy and Ferrell Strayhorn. She was preceded in death by her parents; her spouse, Frederick C. Parks; sister, Velma Turner; son, Dewey Parks; and son-in-law, Frederick L. Crook.

Louise grew up during the depression and learned how to work hard. After farming for many years she went to work at the shoe factory and worked there until she retired. She was a member of Clearwater Missionary Baptist Church for over 60 years. She was a no-nonsense type person who said what she meant and always told the truth. She was never depressed and always happy.

She loved helping raise her grandkids and enjoyed going to their games. She loved all the neighborhood children as well and was adopted as their surrogate grandma. She was the rock in the family and a pillar of the community. Many would describe her as a stable force.

Louise crocheted magnificently and crocheted many afghans for her family. She was an avid reader of Western romance novels. She enjoyed playing dominoes at the Carmichael Center along with her sister, Jane. Known county wide for her cooking, she made the best blackberry cobbler, peanut brittle, and chicken and dressing. She loved her redbirds and Razorback Basketball.

She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Crook (Mario Rodriguez); two sisters, Francis Byrd (Charles) and Jane Barnes; four grandchildren, Candy Lindstrom (John), Scott Parks (Lisa), Todd Parks (Linda), and Frederick L. Crook, Jr. (Donna); six great-grandchildren, Jackson Parks (Brii), Stephen Parks, Savanna Parks, Alexandra Lindstrom, Ashley Lindstrom, and Azura Merrell; and two great-great-grandchildren, Aurora Jade Parks and Owen Graham .

A visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at Roller-Daniel Funeral Home in Searcy. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. Interment at White County Memorial Gardens in Searcy.
