Minerva Louise "Meme" Sanders, 98, of West Point, Arkansas passed away on Sunday, October 6, 2019. She was born on March 21, 1921 in Des Arc, Arkansas to Robert Eugene Shafer and Wilhemenia Oduska Shafer. She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton "Dandy" Sanders; her parents; and two brothers, Robert and J.W. Shafer.

Minerva was a homemaker and a lifelong member of the Home Extension Club. She was honored with her service to the club with a United States flag flown over the State Capitol. She loved to travel. She enjoyed sewing and cooking. She taught a holiday food class for many years and had a cookbook in her honor. In her 90's she sewed over 600 tote bags and gave them to visitors and everyone she knew. She was a lifelong member of West Point Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school. She was full of life all the way through.

She is survived by her daughter, Susan Person (Billy); three grandchildren, Kellie Burnett (Terry), Nina Taylor (Kevin), and Jill Fouse (Tim); four great-grandchildren, Garretson Taylor, Molly Jones (Timothy), Macy Fouse and Meg Fouse; one great-great-grandson, Willis Garretson Taylor; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at Roller-Daniel Funeral Home in Searcy. A Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 10, 2019 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at West Point Cemetery in West Point.

I loved Mrs Minerva! I remember walking down to her house and visiting with her for hours when I was a kid. She was an amazing woman!
