Augusta Rose Gehring

of Searcy, AR

November 28, 1929 - September 6, 2019

Augusta R. Gehring, 89 of Searcy passed away September 6, 2019. She was born on November 28, 1929 to the late Carl D., SR and Augusta Rosa Pfitzer Meyer in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Mrs. Gehring met and married Leroy F. Gehring, who preceded her in death on May 13, 1998. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Clifford and John Meyer and two sisters, Mary Smith and Louise Nelson.

She is survived by her children, Martin (June) Gehring of Beebe, Robert (Brenda) Gehring of Alma, Kenneth (Brenda) Gehring and Richard Gehring both of Searcy, and Mary (Arthur) Pruitt of Alma; eight grandchildren, Christina (Michael) Ward, George (Karla) Pruitt, Janell, Justin and Allen Gehring, Brandy Estrada, Johnathan Parker and Brendan Moffitt-Gehring; seven great grandchildren Clayton, Leah, Kael, Marissa, Brittney, Whitney and Robbie; three great-great grandchildren and one brother Carl D. Meyer, JR along with a host of other family members and friends.

Mrs. Gehring enjoyed many things in her life and was very faithful to all of them. She was a faithful member of her church and was active in many areas including teaching Sunday School. She enjoyed education which was evident by the fact that she continued her own education and received her Master's in Education Degree and taught for 40 plus years with 33 of them being spent in the Des Arc School District. But most of all, she loved her family. She loved spending time with them, taking care of them, teaching them not only in the spoken word, but also in her own actions. She enjoyed reading, gardening of all types, crocheting along with other needle work and even did canning which was probably not her favorite thing to do, but did it to help provide for her family.

Services will be Visitation, Monday September 9 from 5-7PM at Roller-Daniel Funeral Home with the funeral on Tuesday, September 10 at 11:00AM at Our Shepherd Lutheran Church in Searcy. Memorials may be made to the Our Shepherd Lutheran Church or to the Lutheran Women's Missionary League at Our Shepherd Lutheran Church. All services are under the direction of Roller-Daniel.

My sincere condolences to Mrs. Augusta's family. After her retirement when she substitute taught, when I called her she was always so pleasant and helpful, then as long as she could attend White County Retired Teachers meetings, it was always a pleasure to visit with her. A life well remembered.

We love and pray for our family often. Our loving Aunt Gussie will be missed. She is now singing loudly with the heavenly host holding the hands of her family who have proceeded her.
