of Heber Springs, AR

February 27, 1935 - May 23, 2019

Shirley Sue Baker Ashley, 84, of Heber Springs passed away on May 23, 2019. She was born on February 27, 1935 in Carlisle, Arkansas to the late Roy Louis and Ella Mae Minton Baker. Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brother Roy Baker.

Shirley is survived by her husband of 65 years, Ira Gene Ashley; two daughters, Sharon (David) Warren of Paragould and Anita (Charles) Davis of Searcy. Four grandchildren, David George (Hannah) Warren,II, Dr. Daniel Ashley (Dr. Andrea) Warren, Dr. Hannah (Mark) Kimbrough and Mallory (Jordan) Morris; seven great grandchildren, Caroline, Molly Kate, David George (DG3), Wade and Cameron Warren, Cooper and Charlie Morris, and one sister, Rosemond (Jerry) Brown. She is also survived by her nieces, nephews and other family members along with a host of friends.

Shirley had many interests including sewing, cooking, gardening, camping, reading and Bible Studies to be a few, but the greatest of all her interests was her family and friends. She was a telephone operator until she married Ira on December 27, 1953 and at that time she quit work to stay home and be a wife and mother. She was a former Sunday school teacher, 4-H leader and substitute teacher. She and Ira did everything together from farming to real estate and everything in between. Church was a very large part of their life and they were currently members of First United Methodist Church in Heber Springs. Their love for each other was passed down to the daughters and their grandchildren. The grandchildren would go to Nonie's so they could get the famous ''Nonie Burger'' because they knew that it would be made special just for them whether it was to go or to eat in.

Visitation and a Celebration of Life service will be held on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 beginning at 9:00AM at First United Methodist Church in Heber Springs. All arrangements are under the direction of Roller-Daniel Funeral Home of Searcy.
