Lois Hooper Rhodes-Roberts, 87, of Searcy, passed away Wednesday, March 27. She was born August 17,
1931 to the late Chester and Gertrude Bass Hooper. Lois was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers,
Duard Hooper and James Hooper; one son, Dennis ''Dusty'' Rhodes; husband of 17 years, Clifton Roberts,
husband of over 40 years, Leonard Rhodes; one son-in-law, Rick Butzlaff. Lois is survived by two daughters

Lois was a 1949 graduate of Searcy High School. She owned and operated several retail shops in Searcy over
the years before retirement. She was active in the local Veterans' assistance community, and a lifetime
member of the VFW Auxiliary, with more than 40 years in service. She held many offices and chairmanships
throughout her tenure with the Auxiliary and was a mentor and leader to many with whom she worked there.
She encouraged three generations to continue her service work with the Auxiliary. In her personal life, Lois
was the matriarch that played an instrumental role in raising her grandchildren, upon whom she doted to a
fault. ''Nanny's'' house always had a place for the later generations to feel at home.
