William Archie StovallI am a Veteran.

of Searcy, AR

January 19, 1937 - March 5, 2019

William Archie Stovall, 82, of Searcy, AR went home to be with Jesus on March 5, 2019. He was preceded in death by his father, Marcus Stovall; his Mother, Amy (Ohler) Stovall; his daughter, Ann Janette Stovall; his sister, Jane (Stovall) Nichols; and his granddaughter, Candi (Sharp) White. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 56 years, Barbara (Rogers) Stovall of Searcy; daughter, Liz (Stovall) Mullen of Tallulah, LA; sons, Kendall and Brad Stovall both of Searcy; son, Rodney Stovall of The Colony, TX; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Betty (Stovall) Jewell of Benton, Jim Stovall of Cherokee Village, Jerry Stovall of Lepanto, and Shirley (Stovall) Jackson of Mountain Home.

William was born in Bassett, AR. He grew up there and in Joiner, AR. He joined the Arkansas Army National Guard in 1959 and then transferred to the Army Reserve. He served as an artillery cannoneer, a cook, and then a driver for his unit commander while serving in Korea for 16 months. He was honorably discharged in 1962.

William met the love of his life, Barbara, in Dyess, AR in December 1962. Barbara was from Lepanto. They married four months later in Kansas City, KS and over the next three years lived in Florida, New York, and Dyess before settling in Lepanto. While in Lepanto and the aforementioned locations, William worked in the bumper repair business with the family for about 20 years. He then became a truck driver and eventually began driving for Walmart while making their home in Searcy until his retirement in 2002. No one was a stranger to William. He loved attending worship services with his church families at First Baptist Church in Lepanto, First Baptist Church in Cherokee Village, Kensett First Baptist, and Trinity Baptist Church in Searcy. He enjoyed being a substitute Sunday school teacher and driving the church bus for Awanas while at the FBC in Cherokee Village. William loved his family and his many relatives. He enjoyed family reunions, camping, hunting, woodworking, and playing cards and dominoes with family and friends. More importantly he confessed Jesus Christ as his Lord and believed with all his heart God raised him from the dead. We have this hope we will see him again in Heaven.

William's Celebration of Life service will be Saturday, March 9th at Trinity Baptist Church, 1601 E. Moore St., Searcy, AR 72143. Family viewing will be 12:30-1:00 p.m., friends and guests 1:00-2:00p.m., followed by the service at 2:00 p.m. A procession will follow to the burial site at White County Memorial Gardens, 3306 East Park Ave in Searcy. Services are under the direction of Roller-Daniel Funeral Home in Searcy. Online guestbook www.rollerfuneralhomes.com/Searcy.

I was sad to learn about Mr Stovall. I remember him from my childhood and he was always ready to help anyone that needed help and to serve at FBC Lepanto. My prayers are with y’all.

Rodney, we are praying for you and your mother and the children for God to lift you all up with His mighty hand to give you peace and to comfort your hearts in the loss of your father.
May you draw comfort in knowing that he is resting in Jesus and that you will see him in heaven.
