Barbara Sue Cox

of Osceola, AR

August 20, 1951 - May 16, 2019

Barbara Sue Cox was born August 20, 1951 and passed away on May 16, 2019, from a long illness. She was a Christian, wife, mother, Nanny/NaNa to her grandchildren and dear friend to all that knew her. She was blessed with numerous talents and skills. She earned her pilot's license as a young woman. She rode and showed Tennessee Walking Horses as a young girl/woman. When she attended Arkansas State University, she put her equine skills to the test and was voted ASU Indian Princess. She was a most dedicated farmer's wife one could imagine to her husband Ronnie. She understood the life and role of a farmer's wife like no other. He (Ronnie) worked outside to make the crops and Mom worked inside to market and sell the crops. She loved to cook, was an amazing seamstress, and to quote her husband, ''She could take a dollar and turn it into $1.25 before you knew!'' One close friend even named her ''the Soybean Queen'' due to her knowledge of the farm and her abilities to make it work. Being a wife was a sacred thing to her; she would struggle to get supper started for her husband as recently as a couple of months ago even if someone else had to ''take it up.'' When asked why she would do this because it was so hard on her, she would simply say, ''I know I'm sick but I'm still a wife.'' Barbara was a shining example of motherhood. She never missed a ballgame, whether to watch one play or one just cheer. If you ever had the opportunity to watch a basketball game with Barbara, you would see that she could turn into a rapid, take-no-prisoners fan! Watching games with her was very intense. She was the ultimate ''couch coach.'' Karen and Jenna will always remember her looking at them with bulging eyes and pointed, crippled little index finger telling them just how things were going to be, because in her words, ''she was still the mama!'' She loved her church family, especially the ladies in her Sunday school class and her pastor, Bro. Todd Vinson. Barbara was preceded in death by her father Ronny Goble and sister Vickie Carter. She is survived by her mother: Dixie Goble of Little Rock; faithful husband of 47 years, Ronnie B. Cox; daughters: Karen Cox Wood (Steve) of Little Rock and Jenna Cox Pirani (Dino) of Wilson; her precious grandchildren: Kayleigh Marie Wooten of Little Rock; Dean and Jack Pirani of Wilson. The family wishes to give special thanks to Dr. Reggie Cullom, Dr. Scott Dickson, Kayla Dixon, RN; hospice nurses: Joyce Brooks and Linda Bohannon, her caregivers, and Brother Todd Vinson for their devoted time and care throughout her sickness to the end.

Jenna, I just saw this and even though over a year has passed, I wanted to let you know how much I appreciated your mother. No teacher could have had a better room mom. I totally admired her.

To the Family of Barbara Sue Cox, I’m sorry for your loss of your beloved, May you find comfort just as I have, in the God of all comfort, Jehovah, (2 Corinthians 1:3,4) in his Word, the Bible, in Isaiah 57:15: For this is what the High and Lofty One says, Who lives forever and whose name is holy: “I reside in the high and holy place, But also with those crushed and lowly in spirit, To revive the spirit of the lowly And to revive the heart of those being crushed. The only true God has promised in his Word, in Isaiah 25:8: He will swallow up death forever, And the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will wipe away the tears from all faces.... For Jehovah himself has spoken it. Psalms 83:18; Isaiah 43:13; Isaiah 46:10; Isaiah 55:11; Titus 1:2. (New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures)
