Peggy Pebbles Swafford

of Mountain View, AR

April 2, 1936 - December 30, 2019

Peggy (born as Nancy Marie Pebbles) Swafford, 83, of Mountain View, Arkansas passed away on Monday, December 30, 2019 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Peggy was born on April 2, 1936 in Bloomfield, Iowa to the late George and Lona (Thompson) Pebbles. Peggy spent her adult life as a homemaker. She was a member of Arbanna Baptist Church, the Ben EHC, and the Shady Lawn Quilting Ladies. Peggy enjoyed trying to catch the biggest fish out of the family pond and always bragged when she caught the largest fish. Aside from being an avid reader, she loved making crocheted blankets and quilts for her children and grandchildren, which they will cherish forever. Peggy took great pride in helping to plan the annual Swafford Family Reunion and was always a significant part of making the Swafford family quilt. She will be greatly missed by all of her loving family and friends.

Peggy is survived by her son, Roger Swafford and wife Melba; daughters, Nancy White and husband Fred, Kathy Rushing and husband Phillip, and Karen Mays; nine grandchildren, April White, Braiden (Paige) White, Nicholas (Amara) Rushing, Kayla (Josh) Newman, Phillip (Melissa) Swafford, Nicki (Dusty) Osburn, Shane Swafford, Kayla (Bret) Knapp, and Ashlee Mays; twelve great-grandchildren; special nieces and caregivers, Trudy Bruton and Allene Prickett, and a host of extended family and friends.

Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Larkin Swafford; parents, George and Lona Pebbles; brothers, Duane, Eugene, Loren, Harley, and Gale Pebbles; sisters, Gailene Ashley and Nadine Shepherd; and, son in law, Bobby Condrey.

Visitation is Wednesday, January 1, 2020 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Arbanna Baptist Church in Mountain View, Arkansas. Funeral services are Thursday, January 2, 2020, 10:00 AM at Arbanna Baptist Church with Brothers Jim Chandler and Glen Swafford officiating. Interment will follow the service at Friendship Cemetery in Ben Community, Arkansas.

Pallbearers are Wheeler Watters, Dave Stoltze, Chip Bruton, Johnny Ryun, Larry Hopkins, Henry Swafford. Honorary pallbearers are Phillip Swafford, Shane Swafford, Braiden White, Nicholas Rushing, Dusty Osburn, Bret Knapp, and Josh Newman.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the White River Area Agency on Aging, Amedisys Home Health, and Dr. Irvin for all his years of care, kindness, and for always being just a phone call away, and Dr. Edwards at UAMS. We would like to express a very special thanks to Johnny Ryun for always being there to help with whatever was needed. You not only became a valued helper, but a member of the family as well.
