Carlos Lawrence

August 10, 1933 - February 20, 2019

Carlos JB Lawrence peacefully went to be with his Lord on February 20, 2019 at the Izard County Medical Center. Carlos was born on August 10, 1933 to John and Myra Lawrence of Onia. He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Eathel; daughter, Carla and husband Garry Stewart of Mountain View; son, Darrell and wife Gayle of Onia; granddaughter, Rebecca and husband Dale Wilson of Onia; grandson, James Stewart of Chicago, IL; granddaughter, Jennifer and husband Justin Cook of Mountain View; grandson, Matthew and wife Kassi Lawrence of Wylie, TX; granddaughter, Julie and husband Bryan Duncan of Mountain View; grandson, John Lawrence of Onia. He is also survived by many great grandchildren: Ethan (wife Kara) and Justin Wilson; Ladd, Lincoln, and Leo Cook; Korbin and Kannon Lawrence; Drey and Allegra Duncan; and his first great great grandchild, Baby Wilson, who will be arriving in the fall. He is survived by his brother, Eugene and wife Jean of Onia; sister, Nona and husband Cleophas Ramsey of Onia; sister-in-law, Ovie Lawrence of Onia and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Carlos is preceded in death by his parents, John and Myra Lawrence; infant son, Gerald; brothers, Olis, Logan, and Parnell Lawrence; sisters, Wanda Fox and Ora Balentine; brother-in-laws, Aaron Balentine and Uriel Fox; sister-in-laws, Ola and Eudene Lawrence; four siblings, Leland, Loland, Dewey, and Alma who passed in childhood.

The most important moment of Carlos' life was when he began his personal relationship with Jesus Christ as a young man. A longtime member of Bethany Missionary Baptist Church, Carlos loved the Lord and wanted to make sure his family did too. He believed in the power of prayer and said many on the behalf of his loved ones for health and salvation. Carlos worked many trades in his life, but was most proud of his time as a chicken grower. He won numerous awards for being top grower in the region. Carlos was an avid deer hunter and sportsman -- a hobby he found most enjoyable when in the company of his family and friends. Perhaps the thing Carlos will be most fondly remembered for was his storytelling. He had a vivid memory and an uncanny ability to share stories from times passed. Carlos cherished his family above all. His playful spirit and infectious laugh ensured his lap was never empty through the years with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren vying for their turn to sit with him in his recliner. He loved deeply and never missed a chance to give a hug and to say 'I love you.'

Visitation for Carlos Lawrence will be held on Friday, February 22, 2019 from 6-8 at Roller Coffman Funeral Home in Mountain View, AR. Funeral service will be Saturday, February 23, 2019, at Bethany Missionary Baptist Church in Onia, AR at 2 pm with Bro. Roy Jones and Bro. Josh Looney officiating. Interment will follow at Pordue Cemetery.
