Edward Clarence Smith, 87, of Mount Pleasant, Arkansas passed away on Thursday, January 24, 2019 at his home. Clarence was born on January 13, 1932 in Allison, Arkansas to the late Harvey and Zola Sutterfield Smith. Clarence served his country in the U.S. Army for 20 years and retired as a Master Sergeant. He was also the Mountain View city chief of police, Stone County Deputy Sheriff and worked for the forest service for 18 years.

Clarence is survived by his wife of 46 years Jackie (Anderson) Smith; children, Eddie Smith and wife Julie, Tony Smith and wife Lenora, daughter Peggy Smith and husband James, daughter Tammy Holden and husband Ken, daughter Vicki Proctor and husband JP, son Jr. Smith and wife Sarah and son Robert Smith and wife Jordan; grandchildren, April Smith-Mathis, Ashley Smith, Randy Smith, Tyranny Goodwin, Anthony Smith, Tosha Little, Britney Harmon, Heather Graham, Maggie Holden, McKenna Holden, John Harness, Holly Garrigus, Whitley Smith, and Sydney Presley; sixteen great-grandchildren; four brothers, Hershel Ray Smith, Johnny Wayne Smith, Gary Wayne Smith, and Donald Wayne Smith; five sisters, Dellar Lavone Smith Fowler, Lovola Ann Smith Fryman, Mary Leona Smith, Lona Faye Smith Lancaster, and Hazel Irene Smith; and a host of extended family and friends.

Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Zola Sutterfield Smith; brothers, James Earl Pate Smith, L.C. Smith, J.D. Smith, Vernon Lee Smith, Harold Eugene Smith, William Carroll Smith, Harvey Keith Smith, Harry James Smith, Clyde Smith, and one sister, Lela Lavern Smith Lancaster.

Visitation for Clarence is Sunday, January 27, 2019, 2:00-3:00 PM at Roller Coffman Chapel in Mountain View, Arkansas. Funeral services will follow the visitation beginning at 3:00 PM with Brothers Darrell Gosser and LJ Treat officiating, with music by David Campbell. Interment is at Fifty Six Cemetery in Fifty Six, Arkansas.

Pallbearers are Andy Williams, Donald Smith, Daniel Smith, Jonathan Masters, Jimmy Masters, and Mike Smith.

Military honors provided by United States Army Funeral Honors Team and Stone County Honor Guard.

Roller Coffman Funeral Home in Mountain View, Arkansas is in charge of the arrangements.
