Sam Lewis, age 78 of Leslie, Arkansas passed from this life on Thursday, October 24th, 2019 at Baptist Hospital in Conway, Arkansas. He was born in Leslie, Arkansas on June 17th, 1941 to the late Myrtle Glenn Lewis and Sarepta Audrey Watts Lewis.

Sam graduated from Leslie High School in 1959. After graduation he joined the US Army. Once returning home, Sam worked as the butcher at Lewis Grocery, which was owned by his parents. He married Lynn Simmons on October 6th, 1965. In 1974, Sam and Lynn moved to Angora Mountain where he worked as a farmer and carpenter and raised their three daughters. He loved his farm life, dancing, and playing cards with his friends, but the love of his life was his family and especially his grandchildren, as he had a nickname for each one of them. Sam was also a member of the Wiley's Cove Masonic Lodge #524.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Lynn Simmons Lewis of Leslie; daughters, Sami (Dennis) Kelley of Marshall and Shantal Lewis Fikes of Leslie; grandchildren, Dustin Adams, Tanner Wade, Colton Kelley, Brooklyn Kelley, Trace Fikes, and Kasen Fikes; great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Paislen, Lucas and Shalynn; sisters-in-law, Brenda Lewis and Vicky Lewis; along with nieces, nephews and many friends.

Sam was preceded in death by his parents, Myrtle and Sarepta Lewis; daughter, Shala Lynn Lewis Stone; sisters, Linda Lee Lewis and Sue Lewis; and brothers, Merl Lewis and Joe Lewis.

Graveside services for Sam will be 2:00 PM Sunday, October 27th, 2019 at Angora Cemetery near Leslie, Arkansas with Bro Bill Derickson officiating. Pallbearers will be Sam's grandchildren; Dustin Adams, Tanner Wade, Colton Kelley, Brooklyn Kelley, Trace Fikes and Kasen Fikes. At the family's request in lieu of flowers, please make contributions in Sam's name to the Angora Cemetery Fund, c/o Simmons Bank in Marshall, Arkansas.
