Nancy Louise Russell Docekal, age 75 of Witts Springs, Arkansas left this life to join her loved ones on August 29th, 2019 at her home with family at her side. She was born in Marshall, Arkansas on August 13th, 1944.
Nancy is preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Gary Wayne Docekal; parents, Wilburn H. Russell, Polly Watts Laffoon and stepfather, Herman Dale Laffoon; brother, Edmond Laffoon; and sister, Georgia Sue Horton.
Survivors include one brother, Aubrey Dale Laffoon and wife Teresa of Rock Creek; her children, Dale and Linda Blandon of Harrison, Wendy and Bryan Brown of Pottsville, Audrey Hall of Witts Springs and Morgan Docekal and Ramon of Woodward, OK; her grandchildren who she loved dearly, Juan Salazar of Fayetteville, Santana and Mark Mills of Pottsville, Kaci and Cody Wallace of Haughton, LA, Dallas Hall of Russellville, Justin and Marcy Brown of Pottsville, Christopher and Michelle Blandon of Woodward, OK, Gary Blandon and Jason of Pensacola, FL and Michael Pete Drewry of Texas; great grandsons, Grady, Nolan and Baker Mills of Pottsville, Cason Ray Wallace of Haughton, LA and Braden Williams of Woodward, OK; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and the "Run Around Girls", Ida, Mary and Connie.
Nancy was a member of the Witts Springs Community Bible Church and played piano for church and choir until her health refrained her. She loved the Witts Springs community and was glad to call it home. Nancy was a second "Momma" to lots of kids while she was janitor at the school. She and Gary owned G&N Grocery here in town for 19 years, where she met and made lots of friends throughout those years. Nancy fought hard in helping get the school property given back to the community. She was a member of Witts Springs E.H. group, the Garden Club, Bible Study and the Red Hot Divas, being known as "Unfancy Nancy". She enjoyed her later years of riding the Senior Bus to town. She and Gary loved camping at "their spot" on Richland Creek, going ginseng and golden seal digging and fighting the ticks and chiggers! In her family's eyes, she was the Best Mom, Granny and G-G ever to be known. While her years were winding down she wrote many pages of her favorite quotes, sayings and poems. The last few pages she wrote started out with this, "As I sit at the table Gary made, drinking my first cup of American made coffee, looking out the sliding glass doors......" We lost our sister Sue not long ago. Their phone calls each day always opened with "I'm here, are you there? Yes, I'm here, are you there?" It saddened Nancy's heart the day these calls came to an end, so then Nancy continued the calls to her children with the same phrase! She will be deeply missed by friends and family.
Funeral services for Nancy will be 2:00 PM Saturday, August 31st, 2019 at Witts Springs Community Bible Church with Bro. Jim Arnold and Bro. Aubrey Laffoon officiating. Special music will be performed by Bro. Aubrey Laffoon. Pallbearers will be Juan Salazar, Dallas Hall, Cody Wallace, Mark Mills, Chris Blandon, Justin Brown, Gary Blandon, Jason Pace and Mike Drewry. Honorary pallbearers will be Grady Mills, Baker Mills, Nolan Mills, Cason Wallace and Braden Williams.
