Lena Jewell Battershell, age 94 of Marshall, Arkansas passed from this life on Thursday, August 8th, 2019 at Highland Court in Marshall. She was born in Greer, Oklahoma on March 7th, 1925 to Charles Cleveland Treat and Ona (Nettie) Griffin Treat. She married the late Gale Calvin Battershell on June 7th, 1941.
Jewell was of the Baptist faith and spent her years as a homemaker.
Survivors include two sons, Gary Joe Battershell and wife Emily of Eureka Springs and Scotty E. Battershell and wife Shirley of Harrison; six grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and brothers, Leo Treat and wife Dean of Conway and Denny Treat and wife Mary of Yakima, WA. Jewell is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Nettie Treat; her husband, Gale Battershell who passed away in 2015; one son, Ronnie Battershell; sister, Helen Jo Treat Sanders; and brother, Jimmy Dale Treat
Graveside services for Jewell will be 2:00 PM Sunday, August 11th, 2019 at Canaan Cemetery near Marshall, Arkansas with Bro. Clayton Lesley officiating.
Gary & Scotty, I am so sorry for the loss of yiour mother. This is a sorrow you will never really get over. the ache will fad but it will still be there. Just rememeber you can still talk to your mom. And you will know in your heart what her answers would be and take comfort in knowing you have all your wonderful memories. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this time of sorrow.
Miss Jewel was definitely one of a kind. A very loving lady who touched everyone she knew including me. She may be gone from this earth but she’ll never be forgotten.
Sweet aunt Jewell will be missed by so many, she was the last in my family to call me Maria. I loved her dearly and will miss her so much. Love and prayer to all the family.
