Our thoughts are with John's family. John and I spent many weekends photographing trains from the late 1960s into the early 1980s - many fun memories. John was a serious researcher of Rock Island railroad history. His published railroad articles and photographs remain but his smile and enthusiasm will be missed by his many friends in the railroad community.
