Bennie Nell Massey

of Marshall, AR

February 18, 1936 - October 23, 2018

Bennie Nell Horton Massey, 82, of Leslie, AR, completed her earthly journey and went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 23rd, 2018. She was born in Baker, AR, on February 18th, 1936, to Coy and Ada Horton. In 1957, she married Zeb Massey and moved to Leslie, AR, where they shared 46 years together.

Bennie Nell was a woman of great faith and devoted to Jesus. She faithfully read her Bible every morning and every evening. When able, she enjoyed attending church services with Peg.
Bennie Nell spent many of her working years at the fabric stores in Marshall and Leslie. She was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed sewing and quilting for her family. Later in life, Bennie Nell cleaned several houses and banks, where her grandchildren would often tag along.
In addition to sewing, Bennie Nell enjoyed being outdoors. She spent many hours planting flowers, walking up the road with her great-grandchildren, and burning brush piles on a windy day. She also never missed watching Zach play a basketball game or going on an annual shopping trip with Danny.

Bennie Nell was preceded in death by her parents, Coy and Ada Horton, an infant daughter, Pamela, her husband, Zeb Massey, one sister, Patsy Kelley, one brother, Charles Horton and her daughter and son-in-law, Zebbie and Mike Tuell.

Those left to cherish her memory are two grandchildren: Rachel (Jason) Sanders and Zach (Samantha) Tuell, five great-grandchildren: Thomas Sanders, Caroline Sanders, Luke Sanders, Keaton Tuell, and Camden Tuell, three brothers: Danny (Shirley) Horton, Mike (Ken) Horton, and Tony (Kaye) Horton, two sisters-in-law: Peggy Massey and Kim Massey, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Graveside services for Bennie Nell will be 2:00 PM Saturday, October 27th, 2018 at Leslie Cemetery with Bro Chris Reade officiating. Pallbearers are Heath Horton, Sean Horton, Lloyd Horton, Corey Horton, Jeff Massey, Bobby James, and Phillip McCraw. Arrangements are by Roller-Coffman Funeral Home in Marshall, Arkansas.

So many great memories at their house when we were kids. I'm sure Zebbie and I were a handful, especially when we were together! She was always so much fun and made life fun for us. Prayers to you all!

What a wonderful lady. I kept Zebbie one summer and Bennie had made the best brownie. So before the Leslie school closed. Jasper played Leslie so when we got to the gym and seen Zebbie at the door she said momma has something for you. Guess what she had made me some of her brownies. God bless you Bennie. Prayers for the family.

I’m so very sorry to hear of the passing of Bennie Nell. I am so blessed to have had in her my life and my girls life. They share so many memories of walking up to their house from their Granny and Papa’s and the special Halloween treats Bennie and Zebbie would hand out to the kids. Prayers for all of the family. We love you Rachel and Zach and pray for comfort for all of you.
