William A. Tully Jr (Bill) age 97 passed away peacefully at his home in Little Rock, Arkansas surrounded by his family on Saturday, October 5, 2019. He was born January 25, 1922 in Ladelle, Arkansas to William A Tully Sr. and Lula Mae (Boykin) Tully. In addition to his parents Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Ruth Hendricks Tully; one son, Paul Lynn Tully; four sisters, Linnie Brady, Olga Graves, Irene Young, and Kathryn Gross; three brothers, Perry Tully, Johnny Tully, and Madison Tully,.
Those left to cherish his memory include a daughter, Gloria Eubanks (Gary); three sons, Gary Tully (Sandy), Billy Tully, and Robin Tully; seven grandchildren, Christopher Tully, Tabitha Hutchinson, Amanda Mack, William ''Will'' Tully IV, Sydney Glymp, Charles ''Chas'' Eubanks, Julia Virahovskaya; and eight great-grandchildren.
He received an honorable discharge from the U. S. Navy. He was one of America's ''Greatest Generation'', a World War II veteran serving in the South Pacific theater. He attended the University of Arkansas and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. He retired from the U.S. Army Corp. of Engineers where he worked on many key projects.
Bill was an avid hunter, he loved rabbit hunting with his sons, relatives, and friends. He loved to hear his pack of beagles run and enjoyed their bugle-like baying. He also loved fishing with his wife Ruth. They loved to travel. The most exciting and spectacular of their trips was to Yellowstone National Park. He was a great father and family man. Each summer he took his family vacationing and camping at beautiful Blanchard Springs Recreation Area. He loved visiting his brothers and sisters and having them visit in return. They were a close knit family. Aunts, uncles, sisters, brothers, cousins, and others often enjoyed fellow shipping and eating with each other.
The visitation will be on Tuesday, October 8, from 5:00 pm-7:00 PM and the funeral is on Wednesday, October 9, at 1:00 pm at Roller Drummond Funeral Home located at 10900 Interstate 30, Little Rock, Arkansas. Officiating the service is Bro. Paul Sanders.
