Evelyn Fort Stewart, age 92 of Mountain Home, Arkansas, passed away on May 12, 2019. Evelyn was born to parents Marion and Elma (Shuler) Fort on January 12, 1927 in Shulerville, South Carolina.
Evelyn worked in textiles at JP Stevens in South Carolina for the last 10 years of her working life. She enjoyed coloring, writing, and playing computer games. Evelyn was most proud of writing and publishing her book, Behind Closed Doors. She also won ribbons for her colorings.
Evelyn is survived by one daughter, Chelsey (Dan) Brown; one brother, Stanley Fort; six grandchildren, Shanen (Angel) Helms, Cindy, Libby, Jody, Jamie, Aaron; many great- grandchildren, including Kaila Helms; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gaston ''G.W.'' Stewart; parents; two sons, Melvin H. and C. Dean Alewine; and ten siblings.
A Memorial service will be held at Roller Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, May 16, 2019 from 6-8 p.m. with Pastor Bobby Copeland officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Hospice House in Evelyn's name. Arrangements are under the direction of Roller Funeral Home. My sympathy and prayers are with you. It was my pleasure to meet Evelyn. She had brought someone to the doctors office where I worked. Her hat started a conversation and next visit she brought us a copy of her book. After reading her story I knew I had met one of God's strongest.

I remember when I first met you and you gave your Testimony i was in tears. What a Blessing you were in alot of people life. I have a signed book from her. Gone but never forgotten her memories will live on in the hearts of manny My prayers are with the family.

An angel got her wings....fly high Miss Evelyn. She was such a sweetheart. I am so glad to have know this sweet lady. You are in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. She’ll never be further than the memories you hold in your heart. What a Mother’s Day reunion she must have had in Heaven.
