Kathaleen ''Kay'' Hurt, age 88, of Gassville passed away January 2, 2019 in Mountain Home, Arkansas. She was born October 2, 1930 to J. Lawrence and Della Leota (Lynch) Hathcock in Paragould, Arkansas.
Kathaleen married her teenage sweetheart, James on May 11, 1948. They spent 63 wonderful years together. She loved to read paperback western and romance novels. Kay was a nurse at Good Samaritan for many years. Mrs. Hurt was also a traveler at heart. She loved her ''Girls Trips'' with Margaret Schmidbaur and Judy Dieter. Mrs. Hurt was very quick witted and sharp until the very end. Kay was dearly loved and will be missed.
Mrs. Hurt is survived by two sons: Dan Hurt and Tim Hurt (Donna), both local; two grandchildren: Robert Hurt and Roxanne Buege; two great grandchildren: Addesyn and Austin Buege; sister in laws: Betty Hill of Oregon and Joyce Johnson of Paragould; brother in law, Bob Hurt (Jeanetta) of Tennessee; her travelling sisters, Margaret and Judy of Gassville, as well as an abundance of extended family in Virginia.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Della; husband, James; son, Michael; two sisters: Mary Van Jones and Modena Jernigan; brother, Jay Hobbs and best friend, Pat.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 8, 2019 from 1-2pm at Roller Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service will be at 2pm with Reverend Doctor Thomas M. Yoder officiating. Interment will immediately follow in Kirby's Tucker Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Baxter County Food House or Food Bank of North Central Arkansas.
