of Flippin, AR
July 18, 1939 - December 13, 2018
Robert ''Bob'' Earl Johnson, age 79, of Flippin, Arkansas passed away Friday, December 13, 2018 at Cox South in Springfield, Missouri. Bob was life flighted from his home on November 14th after suffering from a hemorrhagic stroke. He was born July 18, 1939 in Middletown, Ohio to Rome and Imogene (Walton) Johnson.
Most of Bob's early years were spent in Silver Grove, Kentucky. However, his father, Rome, had a band that played on the Midwest Country Hayride in Cincinnati, Ohio for several years. Henry Ford II heard the band and hired them to be his house band in Auburn, Michigan. Rome moved his family to southern California, looking to hit it big in the music industry. He landed a job with the Sons of the Pioneers, in which he replaced Lloyd Perryman a native of Heart, Arkansas.
Bob met a lot of famous people through his father. He would sing along side of his father any chance he could get. Robert ''Bob'' wanted to find a well paying job and he did exactly that by landing a job with the union. He became a heavy equipment operator working with Operating Engineers Local 12 in Pasadena, California up until his retirement. After retirement, Bob and Flo moved to Arkansas and bought a home in Flippin. Mr. Johnson had always had others play for him when he would sing, so he taught himself to play the guitar. Bob turned out to be a fine guitar player with a voice that kept his fans coming back to hear more. He loved western and traditional country music and was your all American cowboy.
Bob met his wife, Connie Lee Sanders Bullard while helping raise money for Meals on Wheels for both Mountain Home and Flippin. They played in the Monday Night Opry at the Bull Shoals Theater together too. They were a match made in Heaven, both loved to sing and play together. To my Darling Robert, I love and miss you.
Mr. Johnson is survived by his loving wife, Connie of the home; a sister, Shirley Childers and a brother, Rome Johnson, Jr., both of Germantown, Ohio.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Ray and Don; late wife, Flo Lizotte Johnson, and a partner, Marie Schulte.
Visitation for Bob will begin at 12pm Friday, December 21, 2018 at Roller Funeral Home with a memorial service to follow from 1-2pm. Friends and fans are invited and will be given the opportunity to speak during the service. Please dress in your favorite western wear as we celebrate Bob.
