James Alfred Baney, 77, of Harrisburg, Arkansas, passed away Saturday, July 4, 2020, surrounded by family at his home. He was born November 6, 1942, in Walnut Ridge to the late Vester and Dollie (Ferguson) Baney. James was a mechanic and also worked from the Poinsett County Road Department. He attended Valley View Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening and fixing up old tractors and trucks.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vester and Dollie; three brothers; and six sisters.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of fifty-six years, Norma Jean Baney; sons, James Baney, Jr. and William (Dana) Baney; grandchildren, Kristin Baney, Josh Baney, Luke Baney, LaKeshia Baney, Zachary Baney, and Courtney Drake; great grandchildren, Shelby Baney, Zachary Baney, Jr., Caitlyn Coldiron, Lilly Peterson, and Kaydeen Bachelor; brothers, Charles Baney and William Alvin Baney; and sisters, Frances Roberts and Mildred Wood.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Wednesday, July 8, 2020, at Valley View Baptist Church with David Motes officiating. Burial will follow at Shiloh Cemetery.
Visitation will be the evening prior, Tuesday, July 7, 2020, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home, 1900 W Washington Ave, Jonesboro, Arkansas.
We are complying with the Arkansas Department of Health guidelines and limiting indoor funeral and visitation attendance to fifty individuals at one time, while observing social distancing guidelines. All attendees must furnish and wear their own masks before entering the building.
