Mrs. Effie Downs, 85, of Egypt, AR left this walk of life Sunday, December 8, 2019. She was born July 1, 1934 in Jonesboro, AR to Thomas R. and Rosa Langley Belk. She was a member of the Washington Avenue Church of Christ and retired from DuPont. Effie loved boating, going to the lake and playing cards.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 69 years, Duane Downs; son, Dennis (Bridget) Downs, daughters, Kathy (Charles) Hooten, Sandy (Jesse) Tate, and Linda (Roger) Watkins; grandchildren, Misti (Brent) Weaver, Erin (Stacey) Burns, Haley (Bryan) Pope, Heather (Josh) Eggers, Troy (Caitlin) Hooten, Kara (Derrick) Anderson, and Janea (Jacob) Cook; great-grandchildren, Gage Weaver, Brentlee (Tristan Johnson) Weaver, Callie Weaver, Sydney Pope, Sophey Pope, Carsyn Burns, Emma Burns, Drew Burns, Karleigh Anderson, Elleigh Anderson, Ellis Eggers, Eason Eggers, Savannah Hooten, Case Cook, Cole Cook; and sisters, Ethel Chesser, of Jacksonville and Janeice Makin, of Egypt.
She is preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Susie McDaniel, Sadie Mills, Juanita Pearce, Ruth Bailey, Herbert Belk, Don Belk and Tommy Belk.
Funeral services will be held, 10:00 am, Wednesday, December 11, 2019, at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home, 1900 West Washington Avenue, Jonesboro, AR with Kenneth Gossett officiating. Burial will be in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be held 5:00-7:00 pm, Tuesday, December 10, 2019, at the funeral home.
Duane and family, We are so sorry for your loss, we just heard of Effie's passing. You are in our thoughts and prayers, praying for comfort and peace through this difficult time.
May God grant you family peace, comfort and many blessed memories. Effie was always joyful and a joy to work with and socialize with. I love all of you, my prayers are with you.

I am thinking about all of you. I love everyone in your family. Such a big part of our young lives. Just try to remember Effie is no longer in pain. That thought helped me so much when we lost Daddy and Momma.
