Joan Doris (Arnold) Cole, 82, of Jonesboro, went to be with her lord, Wednesday, July 10, 2019, surrounded by her family and caregivers. She was born November 7, 1936 in Plaquemine, Louisiana to Arthur Odell and Beulah (Thomas) Arnold. She moved to Cash when she and her husband, Homer, met through relatives, and married after 3 months of meeting, on July 16, 1959. Doris was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, where she was a children's teacher, VBS teacher and young adult teacher. She was also in the church choir and always had remarkable parts in the Christmas program. She loved being with her grandchildren and doing crafts.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 3 brothers, Art Arnold, Harry Arnold and Charles Arnold; 2 infant brothers, Gerald Arnold and her twin brother; and son-in-law, Harold Callahan.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Homer Lee Cole; daughters, Donna (Ronnie) Teague, Carolyn Callahan, and Mona (Bryan) Glenn; son, Matt Cole; 8 grandchildren, Joshua (Alecia) Sparrow, Ronna (Dustin) Davis, Jacob (Michaella) Callahan, Hallie Callahan, Ryan Teague, Brandon Glenn, Courtney Cole and Cody Cole; 3 great-grandchildren, Colton and Addison Sparrow and Melissa Davis; sister, Glynda (Douglas) Cousin; and 2 sister-in-laws, Jean (Donald) Workman and Rosemary Lawman; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be Saturday, July 13, 2019 at the New Hope Baptist Church, 1021 New Hope Lane, Jonesboro, at 11:00 am with Bro. Don Vuncannon and Pastor Gerald James officiating. Burial will be at Sullins Cemetery in Grubbs. Grandsons, Josh Sparrow, Jacob Callahan, Ryan Teague, Brandon Glenn, Cody Cole, Colton Sparrow and Dustin Davis will serve at pallbearers. The New Hope Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Visitation will be, Friday, July 12, 2019 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home, 1900 West Washington Avenue in Jonesboro.
