Emogene Kizer, 90, passed away Monday, March 18, 2019, at St. Bernard's Medical Center in Jonesboro. She was born May 2,1928, to Esther (Gay) Jernigan in Hornesby, TN.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in West Memphis. She was active in several organizations including the Friends of the Library, Eastern Star, Veterans of Foreign War Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, Shriners to the Rescue, and Hairdressers and Cosmetology Association #34. Emogene was a hairdresser for many years and later worked as a door greeter for Walmart in West Memphis. She resided most of her adult life in West Memphis before moving to Jonesboro.
Emogene was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Mildred (Elmer) Parkey, Esther Lee (Ralph) Smith, and Earline (Laverne) Northcott; brothers, Wilbur (Charlene) Jernigan and Gay Dean Jernigan; and granddaughter, Becky (Coburn) Blevin.
She is survived by daughters, Jane (Charles) Coburn, of Jonesboro, Jean (Ellis) Frost, of Georgia, and Betty Sue (Drew, deceased), of Illinois; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 22, 2019, 11:00am, at the First Baptist Church of West Memphis. Burial will follow at Crittenden Memorial Park.
Visitation will precede services from 10:00am until time of service.
