G.W. Edgar, 90, of Brookland, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, February 6, 2019, at NEA Baptist Hospital in Jonesboro. He was born December 2, 1928, in May, Texas, to Cleve and Ruth (Merrel) Edgar. Mr. Edgar was a member of the Prospect Missionary Baptist Church and the NEA Horse Show Association.
He was also a member of the United States Army, serving during the Korean War. Mr. Edgar was a Purple Heart recipient for his time of service.
He is preceded in death by his parents and eight siblings.
His survivors include his wife of 52 years, Betty (Jones) Edgar; son, Paul (Darla) Edgar; grandsons, Cody Edgar and Creed Edgar; one brother; and one sister.
A graveside service will be held 10:00 am Friday, February 8, 2019, at Pine Log Cemetery in Brookland with Brother Mike Book officiating.
Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Prospect Missionary Baptist Church.
Services are under the direction of Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home.
Will certainly miss him at the horse shows. He was a great man.
I am grateful I had the pleasure of meeting GW recently. He was so proud of his family. I enjoyed hearing his stories. My prayers are with you.

Cowboy up GW! Some of my earliest memories of Uncle GW were riding horses and tractors, fishing in the irrigation ditch,the family trio singing gospel. He was always encouraging and willing to listen or help. Will keep tabs on Aunt Betty for you.

I am very sorry to hear about G.W...he was a good man.. .we horse showed together for years ...he really loved his horses. And had fun showing them...good memories of that man..G.Fisher
