Edith (Norton) Griffin, 95, of Jonesboro, passed to her eternal reward Tuesday, February 5, 2019. She was born on June 10, 1923, to Benjamin L. and Maude L. Norton in Ripley County, Missouri.
Her family moved to Arkansas when she was three years old, settling in Beebe. Edith moved to Jonesboro in 1947 and soon she began working at Frolic Footwear, where she retired in 1992 with 45 years of service. She met the love of her life, James C. ''Shorty'' Griffin, while both were working at Frolic. They were married for 38 years before his death in 1986.
Edith was a member of the Church of the Nazarene. She loved working in her yard, especially with her flowers. When able, she enjoyed gardening and canning fruits and vegetables from her garden.
Edith and ''Shorty'' had three children, Carolyn May (Joe), James F. Griffin and Gary Griffin all of whom survive her. Other survivors include two sisters, Bennie Layne and Erma Brady; a son, Otis Lynn; seven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; one great granddaughter; and many friends.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her parents; a sister, Vera Armstrong; a brother, James ''Bud'' Norton; and a granddaughter, Kimberly Dawn Lynn.
Graveside services will be held at Nettleton Cemetery, Friday, February 8, at 12:30pm. With Jimmy Young officiating. Serving as pallbearers are Tim Johnson, Michael May, Cory Johnson, Andrew Griffin and Randy Vanhorn.
Visitation will be at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home prior to the service, Friday from 10:30am '''' noon.
I am so sorry for your loss. Edith will be missed by the whole community. She was always there for our family. She was always helping others. There is another ANGEL to watch over us!
I will miss Mrs. Griffin she had a good sense of humor enjoyed her very much.
The description I read her about my "Aunt Kink " is how I remember her as a child. We loved the family fish frys with her Family & Uncle Shorty.
