Gertie Imogene Bearden, of Jonesboro, passed away Friday, August 10, 2018 at the Ridgecrest Nursing Center at the age of 85. She was born February 27, 1933 in Hoxie, AR to Gay and Mary Lee Dodd Riggs. Her family owned the Bearden Grocery on Main Street in Jonesboro. She was a member of the Valley View Church of Christ. She loved her grandbabies very much.

Mrs. Bearden was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 36 years, Leon Bearden; a daughter, Joan (Carolyn) Bearden; sisters, Daphine Broadway and Bonnie Sue Riggs; and brothers, Gay Riggs Jr., Kenneth Riggs, Linuel Riggs, and Uen Riggs.

Survivors include her daughter, Linda Diane (Charles) Lairson; grandchildren, Kevin Leon Braswell and Brittany Diane (John) Robinson; great grandson, Brooks Leon Robinson; brothers, Joe Riggs, Leon Riggs, Conway Riggs and Jerry Riggs; and sisters, Levada Harrell and Vineta Evans.

Funeral services will be 2 pm Sunday at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home, 1900 West Washington Avenue in Jonesboro with Spencer Furby officiating. Interment will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 1 pm until time of service.

Mrs. Bearden's family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
