LaFerne Workman

of England, AR

October 21, 1930 - October 18, 2019

LaFerne Mills Workman passed away on October 18, 2019. She was born on October 21, 1930. She lived most of her life in Lonoke and Jefferson counties and was a graduate of England High School.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fern Boyd Mills Taber and Worrell M. Mills, a stepfather, Raymond Taber, her brothers, Monroe Mills and Dick Mills, step-brother J.C. Taber, step-sister Sue Longenbach and her husband, Billy Workman. LaFerne and Billy were married for almost 40 years--give or take a few bad crops.

LaFerne is survived by two daughters, Nanette and Jimmy Adams of England, Arkansas and Stacey and Andy Cimowsky of Atlanta, Georgia. She leaves grandchildren, Amber and Jason Martin, Add and Jennifer Adams, Sam Cimowsky and SaraBeth Cimowsky and great grandchildren, Dane Martin, Charli and Sloan Adams.

LaFerne worked outside the home for the bulk of her adult life. She worked for several local automobile dealerships with a number of years serving as the Office Manager for Caplinger Chevrolet. She was an instrumental part of Workman Farms as she handled bookkeeping and financial affairs. LaFerne was of an era where the women ran things without being given the authority to do so. She was strong enough to go toe to toe with strong men and eventually win the argument''''whether they knew it or not!

Her greatest source of pride were her two daughters who have raised strong and loving families that serve as an integral part of their communities both local and afar.

Her family would like to express their gratitude to the Cavalier Nursing Home Staff for the loving care given to their mother during her stay and are especially thankful for the compassion they have shown to her and her family in her last few days.

Services will be 2:00 PM Monday, October 21, 2019 at Roller England Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Mulberry Cemetery at a later date.
