of Clinton, AR
May 3, 1937 - July 25, 2019
Bobby Gene Pruitt, age 82, passed away on July 25, 2019. He was born in Dabney, Arkansas, on May 3, 1937, the son of Leeman Pruitt and Willie (Pack) Pruitt.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years Johnnie (Scarberry) Pruitt, two sisters, Marjorie Carr of Bryant, Arkansas and Arlene Chambers and husband Bob of Benton, Arkansas, and numerous nephews and nieces.
Early in their married life, Bobby and Johnnie moved to Sherwood, Arkansas, where Bobby worked 42 years for Union Pacific Railroad. He was a talented mechanic, with friends and neighbors saying he could "fix anything." His hobby was maintaining and driving racecars, and he enjoyed great success on the racetrack. It was said that Bobby could get more speed out of a Ford than anyone.
Shortly before his death, Bobby and Johnnie moved to Clinton, Arkansas, and Bobby accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior. Knowing that he is in Heaven with the Lord is a great comfort to his family and friends.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Loy Ray Pruitt, and a sister Verneda Pruitt.
One of my favorites at the R.R. in all the years I worked there. I was apprenticed to him and learned so much from Bobby, both how to fix things and to be a stand up guy. He was admired by perhaps everyone, and that's not easy on the R.R. So glad to say he was my friend.
Deepest Condolences on Bobby's passing.
Greatest racecar driver ever and a good person. Prayers for your loved ones.
