My deepest sympathy goes out to Mickey, Linda, and sisters of Rulene. She was always one of my favorite aunts. I have fond memories of her and my uncle AC, and my cousins in their home in West Memphis where I spent a lot time in my childhood. There was always lots of laughter and fun times. I miss those days. Aunt Rulene will always have a special place in my heart.

I got to know the Holt family from my close friendship with Rulene's son Bobby. She was very kind to me on countless water skiing outings. Rulene was probably starting to wonder if she had picked up another son, I was such a constant presence with them at McKellar and Sardis Lakes. She and A. C. gave Bobby and I just enough freedom which teenage boys desperately want but without letting us get into too much mischief!

Years later I learned a simple but valuable lesson from Rulene. I was returning from a military deployment when I learned Bobby had cancer. Calling Rulene to find out about Bobby's prognosis I confessed my anxiety over what to do and say. She said to just call Bobby and talk with him like I would at any other time. Her advice not to worry about what to say has served me then and continues to serve me. I still face uncomfortable conversations as we all do and rather than be paralyzed with dread, I remember Rulene's advice. So I just pick the phone up to talk or extend an invitation for a conversation over coffee.

Linda,
Love and prayers to you and your family in the loss of your mom. It is never easy to lose a parent, and I know that in this pandemic, it is even more so.

Love to you,
Greg

Sending many prayers to the family during this time. When I think of Aunt Rulene,I am drawn back to my younger days with her and Uncle AC, horses and lots of laughter. I take comfort in knowing they are reunited now, healthy and whole and we will see them again soon. Love and blessings.
