Kathy Jean Smith

of Arkadelphia, AR

April 30, 1958 - March 24, 2020

Kathy Jean Smith, 61 of Arkadelphia, formerly of Little Rock, AR left her earthly life to begin her eternal life in heaven on March 24th, 2020. Kathy was born in El Dorado, AR on April 30th to Cleveland and Carolyn Smith. Kathy was preceded in death by her father Cleveland, her special friend Gary Egger, her maternal grandparents John and Bernice Crook and her paternal grandparents Orville and Omie Smith. Kathy is survived by her mother Carolyn Smith, her sister Vicki (Smith) Spears, her nephew Jacob Spears (Lindsey) and her great-niece Sutton Spears.

Kathy was born with Down Syndrome, some would call this a disability, but Kathy looked at it as a challenge. She lived a full life with a loving family, many friends, and enjoyed her job at Ouachita Baptist University. Kathy attended First Baptist Church in Arkadelphia and was a longtime member of LifeLine Baptist Church in Little Rock. She was also very proud of her home that she purchased herself.

Kathy loved swimming and was a gold medal winner in several regional and national Special Olympics events. Dancing and bowling were also favorite pass times that she enjoyed with her friends. Kathy never met a stranger and was loved by everyone that knew her.

The family wishes to thank; Group Living, Inc. and the Rainbow Organization both of Arkadelphia, the staff at Hickory Heights Nursing Home in Little Rock, and Baptist Hospice of Little Rock.

Service will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday March, 29th and may be viewed via Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Facebook live stream.
