Ethel Earnestine James Woodall

of Little Rock, AR

January 17, 1924 - March 25, 2020

Ethel Earnestine James Woodall, 96, a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, died peacefully at her home on Wednesday, March 25, 2020, after a long illness. She is survived by her cherished husband of 66 years, William Eugene (Gene) Woodall, her daughter Retha Woodall Hayes and husband Dr. Rob Hayes, and grandchildren Whitney, Drew and Emry.

Earnestine was born January 17, 1924, in Dierks, Arkansas, the daughter of Arch Lee and Lela Mag Westbrook James. Upon graduation from high school, she moved to Little Rock to attend Draughon Business College and later worked as a secretary. It was while she was living in Little Rock that she met Gene Woodall, and they married in 1953.

After Earnestine's diagnosis of Alzheimer's, a plan was put in place to allow her to remain in her home, but this would never have been possible without the devoted care of her husband Gene, Luz Jones who faithfully tended to her needs, and the assistance provided by Hospice Home Care.

Although the burial will be private, a visitation and celebration of her life are being planned for this summer. Earnestine was a long-time, faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church, and the family requests that any memorials be made to Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund, 5700 Cantrell, Little Rock, AR, 72207.
