My thoughts are with you. When I received the news I was surprised and had trouble processing this fact. I am very saddened by his passing. We were great friends and he was my ‘big brother’ in the fraternal sense.

I will long miss my friend Jay. I was in touch with him nearly every day leading up until his death. To me he was an incredible intellectual, talented friend and a great person. I knew him for 20 years and while I fell out of touch with him for most of that time we grew closer together as we began to work on shared graphics projects over the past few years. In the early years, he helped me acclimate to a new, unfamiliar city, the first of which I had ever moved to in my life and was one of the first truly friendly faces I encountered. His company, insight and acumen are irreplaceable, and the great tragedy is that the world scarcely knows of his true genius. Truly a loss to his family and to the world, and a heartbreaking situation. He was destined for greater things. I will miss you always my friend- and as I stagger forward trying to learn the 3D arts techniques you had already well mastered, a small part of you will be forever ingrained in all I do. I lift my glass to you and your family and, with tears in my eyes, bid you godspeed on your journey towards the infinite. May your soul rest in peace.

My heart goes out to the Garrison family. God bless you and give you peace. Jay and I were a few years apart in college but I thoroughly enjoyed our time together. His wit, intelligence, and ability to see the bigger picture always impressed me. I will miss seeing Jay at reunions and events for many years. He touched the lives of many good men and made us all better.
