of Little Rock, AR
October 8, 1924 - March 7, 2020
Linda Adkins Holderfield, 95, born October 8, 1924, passed away on March 7, 2020. She never missed a beat. Literally! She loved to dance. She loved Las Vegas, Tunica and Oaklawn. She always worked hard and enjoyed life to the fullest.
Linda was the youngest of a family of seven. Linda grew up in England, Arkansas, picking cotton. She quickly knew she wanted no part of the country life. She moved to the big city of Little Rock at the age was 18. She became a dental assistant at Camp Robinson after graduating from the England Schools. Linda was quite the Sales Lady. She opened her own appliance business at 5300 Asher Avenue, the old Walloch Furniture Store. It was appropriately named Linda's Furniture and Appliances.
Linda is survived by her four children; Dennis (Marshia) Adkins, Sharon (Steve Duffel) Adkins, Robert Douglas Adkins, and Karen Holderfield, nine grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; step-children; Bobby Holderfield, Buddy Holderfield, and Melanie Moore. She was preceded in death by her husband; Buddy Holderfield, and stepson; Matthew Holderfield.
There was never a dull moment. In her last days of life, she was still giving us orders. May she rest in peace. Watch out Heaven, here she comes!
A private graveside service will be held at Little Rock National Cemetery.
We want to thank Hickory Heights Nursing Home and their staff, and also a big "Thank You" to Kindred Hospice for the many hours of care they gave our Mother.
Donations may be made to Friendly Chapel Church-Nazarene, 116 South Pine Street, North Little Rock, Arkansas 72114 or Little Rock Animal Village, 4500 Kramer Street, Little Rock, Arkansas 72204.
I remember Linda as a very nice person. I also remember the boxing ring set up in the back of the appliance store. I would be in the middle of sparring with someone and Linda would tell us we needed to stop because a fridge, washer, or dryer needed to be delivered. Good memories!
Linda and I were friends for many years. I remember giving her an 80th birthday party and thinking how she never slowed down and could out dance and out gamble me through the night. Our paths have not crossed for a few years but I’ll never forget my friend when she was well. I’ll always have nothing but fond memories of your mom.
My friend and I enjoyed many good times with Linda at Tunica as long she was able to be there, we have missed her lots and loved her fun spirit always.
