December 31, 1925 - February 10, 2020

Joseph Stanley Gibbs, 94, of Sherwood, Arkansas and Kaneohe, Hawaii passed away on Monday, February 10, 2020. He was born December 31, 1925 in Los Angeles, California to Leo
Vernon and Eugenia Malloy Gibbs. He grew up in LaCanada, California and graduated from Glendale High School and Glendale College. He made close friends and maintained these friendships for lifetimes.

Stan retired in 1986 as manager of West Coast offices for Vickers, Inc., in Jackson, Mississippi. His love for people and airplanes made him an asset for Vickers and those in the aerospace industry.

In his younger years, he enjoyed sailing and sailboat racing. He was an avid snow skier and was on National Ski Patrol at any sanctioned mountain resort in the United States. After moving to Hawaii, he and Shirley made frequent trips for skiing to Park City, Utah. In Hawaii, they enjoyed the beautiful hiking trails of Oahu.

In addition to his parents, Stan was preceded in death by a brother, Vernon Gibbs; and sisters, Alice Van Camp and Chonita Larsen. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Shirley Bannon Gibbs; son, Stanley John Gibbs (Stacey); daughters, Stephanie Dunlap and Janet Pratt (Dr. William C.); grandchildren, Kristin Mahoney (Hugh), Spencer Pratt (Heidi Montag), Stephanie Pratt; Cristina Dunlap, Tiare Dunlap, Riley Gibbs, and Sawyer Gibbs; great-grandchildren, Ava Mahoney, Georgia Mahoney, Grant Mahoney and Gunner Pratt. He is also survived by nephews, Tuck Newport and Doug Gibbs and nieces, Tiare Newport, Robin Newport, Tina Zecca and Cathy Van Camp, and grandnephews and grandnieces.

A memorial service will be held in Kaneohe, Hawaii at a later date.

Nobody told me Uncle Stan passed away, I just came across this trying to find out if I could still get a hold of him since we had lost touch a few years ago. My prayers and love go out to the rest of the family. God Bless, I will miss Uncle Stan, the last of the four siblings to pass away.
