Mel: Penni and I are so proud of all that you did to help the children under your care. It was an honor to work with you for over 30 years in your positions at ACH. I know how proud you were of being the Director of Pharmacy at ACH. I will miss you and only wish that we could have attended your visitation to say goodbye in person. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

A thank you to Mel’s family for raising a person with such tremendous heart, empathy and integrity. As young pharmacists we “grew up” together at ACH , and Mel was always a step ahead, striving to do more, be more. He became a leader by example (the best kind). He had a particular gift of making others feel special, but I think all along it was he who was so special.
Live like Mel, laugh like Mel because he would want that for all of us who miss him greatly.

Mel was one of my good buddies through pharmacy school. Mel, Jamie, Tony and I used to eat lunch together regularly in the cafeteria. He was a wonderful classmate and friend and that friendship continued through a church singles group and professional meetings. Mel was such a nice, thoughtful and caring person. He will be greatly missed. We are so fortunate to have had him in our lives. Just reflecting on his life makes us realize what it is to be a good person and a good friend.

Mel was kind, funny, caring, thoughtful to everyone. He was my morning coffee buddy and I will truly miss him like so many others will. He would come in my office each morning and always said, "morning everybody" with a smile on his face that would light up the room. Oh how I wish I could hear him say "morning everybody" one more time. Mel you will always hold a very special place in my heart. Until we meet again, enjoy your heavenly coffee my friend.

Sue,Scott, Kim. In this time of sadness. My memory is flooded with all of great times we had growing up. The many miles put on our bicycles . The carpools to school. The trips to Little Rock to see the Orthodontist. The many hours climbing trees at Walnut Grove . The good news is we will all meet again .

I wish I knew how to explain the effect Mel had on my life. He and I had a similar love for our fur babies, taking our mothers to the beach every year, and travel! We became friends through trying to make processes better at ACH. I supported him through his cancer treatments and he supported me through every other life trials! He was always one of those people you never had to question his true feelings and outlook on life. He was taken way too soon and all of us could use more friends like Mel. Sadly I will miss his visitation and service because of a valentine’s weekend trip my husband and I had planned... but I can hear what Mel would have said! I will forever miss you my friend and I will be at your visitation and service in spirit. I hope your beloved Fur baby will be taken care of and that someone you love will continue to take your mom to the beach after you are gone. I know you will be there in spirit! Love you my friend!
