Betty Ann Wilfong

of Little Rock, AR

July 24, 1929 - February 8, 2020

Betty Ann Wilfong of Little Rock went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, February 8, 2020. She was born July 24, 1929 in Fort Smith, AR as Betty Ann Duffin. Betty was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 61 years, Leslie; her sister, Lorain Danner; nephew, Jim Danner; and her parents, Mearl and Ida Duffin. Betty was a faithful and active member of Immanuel Baptist Church for 68 years.

Betty served the Lord with gladness, beginning in Fort Smith where she was born and raised. She served in the local church, Calvary Baptist, leading the Girls Auxiliary program. After marrying Leslie, they moved to Little Rock where they began working with the young people of Immanuel Baptist Church. She devoted her life to countless teenagers through the years. She often also led them in worship with her accordion and piano playing. In addition, Betty worked for the Southern Baptist Convention, leading youth training sessions throughout Arkansas and the United States. She stayed active and involved with the youth at Immanuel until the early 2000's.

Betty combined her love for sewing with her work when she managed a Bernina sewing store in the 90's. After retirement, she and Leslie spent thousands of hours volunteering with the Baptist Hospital Auxiliary Board where she served in numerous positions.

Betty is survived by two nephews, Mark (Ruth) Danner of Spokane, WA; Mearl Danner (Susan) of Centre, AL; and niece Rebecca (Jon) Remley of Birmingham, AL and three great-nieces.

Burial will be Friday, February 14, 1 p.m. at Riverwood Memorial Garden in Maumelle. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 2 pm at Immanuel Baptist Church Chapel. Memorials may be made to Immanuel Baptist Church, 501 N Shackleford Rd., Little Rock, AR 72211. Online guestbook: www.rollerfuneralhomes.com/chenal

I enjoyed getting to visit Mrs. Betty in her last few years at Parkway Village. She was always a wonderful hostess and loved to show us her scrapbook of her and Mr. Leslie. She will be missed greatly!

Betty was a very sweet lady. I had only known her a year or so but I enjoyed talking with her and asking about "her babies". I will miss seeing her. Prayers to her loved ones.

Betty was a dear friend. She was a conference leader for Youth Sunday School. She called me her boss as I was the one inviting her to lead conferences. More importantly, she was a delightful friend and exceptional youth conference leader. I counted Betty and Leslie as the sweetest friends. They were willing to help me in so many ways. I knew they had my back!!

My family absolutely loved Betty and Leslie Wilfong for all these many years we have been members of Immanuel Baptist Church. They were especially kind to our daughter as they helped her through her teenage years guiding her and encouraging her. They took her with them on a trip to Ridgecrest and then on to Colorado to join a group of "strangers" for a wilderness adventure. Betty often said that one of the most difficult things she ever did was to leave Stacey with those people she didn't know. My husband and I trusted Betty and Leslie with our child with no reservations because we knew that being with them was like being in God's hands. Betty was an amazing person always with a smile!
