Dear Blackwoods,
I just learned of Bob’s passing this weekend from my dad. Ever since I got the news, my heart has hurt for all of you. Our lives overlapped for years, starting when I was in elementary school back in Jonesboro and good friends with Pam. There are sweet memories I have of going to church together in those days and sleepovers at the Blackwoods. Then, fast forward to the early 80s when we moved to Little Rock for my husband to serve on the staff at Geyer Springs First Baptist Church. Shortly after arriving, I was completely shocked to run into Bob and Ruth one Sunday at church! Who knew?? It was such a joy to see them almost every Sunday for the 13 years that we lived and served there. They were so dependable and faithful week by week. That is a rare quality nowadays. I’ll always remember them and be moved by their warmth and love to me and my family over decades of my life. Bob was an example of goodness and faithfulness. I know your hearts are broken. Sorrow fills my heart for this huge loss of the rock in your family. Know that my love and prayers are with all of you in the days ahead as you grieve and adjust to a new normal without Bob. All my love to all of you!
Cindy

Dear Ruth, Lisa, Pam and Robby - I am so sad to hear of Bob's passing. He was a wonderful dad - many of us saw the lengths he went to caring for his family. My parents have been gone for many years but I still think of them everyday and I remember how it felt in those early days after - so I cannot say I'm sorry enough times. I will always remember him the way he was in the house on Dreher and during our trip to Hawaii. Strong on the outside, soft on the inside and always ready to be the rescuer. Sending love and hugs to you all in this difficult time.
