of Little Rock, AR

December 30, 1943 - January 19, 2020

Don Edward Fowler (76) died January 19 2020 in Little Rock Ar. Born December 30, 1943 to Thommy and Bonnie Fowler, he was the oldest of 13 siblings.

While attending Mabelvale High School in Little Rock, he competed in High School Rodeo and won the title of ''All Around Cowboy'' in 1963 with the AHSRA, he went on to compete on the National level with the NHSRA and tied first place in the bull riding division. This would be the beginning of a love for rodeo and the Cowboy way of life, and lead him to the ranks as one of the top five bull riders.

Don joined the Arkansas National Guard in 1964 and proudly served as a top aide to General Cummings of the 39th Inf until 1970. In August of '65 he married Paula Faye Davis and together they enjoyed 54 years of marriage, and have two children James Edward Fowler and Christi Fowler Andre'.

With his love of rodeo and the ability to make others laugh, Don joined the ranks of professionals within the PRCA, as funny man and bullfighter ''Bandy'' he along with his ''Trick Mule'' Winston traveled with the Steiner Rodeo Co. bringing smiles and keeping riders safe. All while maintaining his job as driver at Roadway Express, he was a member of Teamsters local 878. Retiring with 32 years of service.

His love for Jesus and growing the kingdom of heaven was evident by his many years of serving in the lay renewals and the prison ministry.
After retirement he would again find himself entertaining crowds as ''Rooster Red Beeker'' his comedy act took him all over the US, preforming at festivals and with the Great American Wild West Show as well as the Star Stage in Branson, Missouri.

He is preceded in death by his parents and four siblings, Leon, Randy, Anne, and Lori. He is survived by his wife Paula, son Jimmy (Deb) daughter Christi Andre' (Greg) granddaughters Haley and Miranda and grandsons Lane and Brandon, along with Five great grandchildren, also his sisters, Bonnie Jo, Joyce, Faye, Tina, Tammy, and brothers Terry, Larry, and Billy Dean.

He also leaves memories with many nieces nephews, other family and friends who will miss him dearly.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at Martindale Baptist Church in Little Rock, Arkansas. A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Monday, January 20, 2020 at the Roller-Chenal Funeral Home. Burial will follow the funeral service Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at Ida Mission Cemetery.

Rode the school bus with the Fowler kids (the older ones)...grew up in the same community. Recall Don working at Milam's Grocery in high school. We rode horses together, he bought his first rodeo clown Shetland from my dad. He was always such an upbeat guy, smiling & joking. Haven't seen him in about 50 years except on facebook...but could tell he was the same sweet guy. Know will be greatly missed by his family & friends. I'm glad I knew him.

We enjoyed the time we spent with you and thankful for the memories we had the opportunity to make in the past few years, your story may have ended, but your life is a book we will reread for generations to come, just last week you were bullfighting for Buddy as he came out of his cardboard box chute, and having a sleepover with Ava as she slept on a pallet beside your bed. Thankful you were well enough to make one last bull riding event back in September where you were recognized in the center arena, and one last steak dinner at the Farmers association in December. Thank you for the memories Don, you were our Hero and we all know ....hero’s never die!
Good Ride Cowboy!

Don was at the Adona bluegrass festivals years ago and was always active all around the park. His role as "Bandy the Clown" was a great addition to the shows. May he rest in peace.
