Michael David Murphy, 81, of Arkadelphia, went to be with the Lord October 13, 2019. He was born on November 8, 1937, in Everett, WA to Jerry and Louise Murphy.
After graduating from Everett High School Michael served in the Air Force as a jet mechanic. After leaving the Air Force he earned a Ph.D. in psychology at the University of Nevada, Reno. He taught psychology at Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, AR from 1975 to 1997. Serving as the chairman of the psychology department for part of that time. He also taught briefly at Ouachita Baptist University after retiring from Henderson.
He leaves his wife of 56 years, Irene Murphy; three daughters, Kathleen Murphy; Kimberly McCall (husband, Sam); Mary Lett (husband, Jeff) and brother, Jerry Murphy (wife, Arlene).
A private family service will be held at a later date.

Shocked & sadden to learn of Mike's passing. Loved him & your whole family. We grieve your loss with you. He was a patient, laid back kind of guy & had a calming effect on those around. The years we lived next door to y'all were the best. Good friends! God bless you Irene & you three girls & your families. Know Mike's passing leaves a hole in your hearts but good memories can help fill that hole. Know that you all are in our hearts & prayers.
