Liz and family, it sounds like your mom lived a full life. I know you miss her and love her... just from further away now. Much love and comfort to you all.

Mrs. Ruth McDowell was one of the most lovable and good humored woman I've ever known. She was quick-witted and so funny (whether she knew that or not, I don't know). She seemed to be in a good mood every time I called her or she called me at the church. I regret that I did not spend more time with her to talk about her life in her early days. One thing she did tell me once was that when the dust bowl happened in the 1930's her family moved to Texas. There are so many things I wish I would have asked her. She was truly a treasure. She was just a very pleasant woman to be around. She was a very stylish woman who wore lovely hats and always looked like she stepped off the front cover of a magazine. I know her adult children know what a treasure she was. Mrs. McDowell fought the good fight and she has her reward in heaven. I wish I could be half as good of a woman she was. I loved her. Her soul is with the Lord for eternity and those who are saved will know what that's like when our time comes. God bless her family and friends and may the Lord use this to draw people to Him. With all my love, Peggy W.

Liz,

You probably don't remember me but I used to work at Petty Drug on West Markham and you worked at Old Blue in the Doctor's building. We went to dinner a few times. I remember meeting your mother and she stuck her hand out to shake mine. I was so impressed. She was an elegant, stately, Godly woman! Can't get any better than that!

This is Timothy McDowell, son number two. I'm going to miss her even though we were far apart geographically. I have so many cool memories about things she taught us and directions in which we were guided. She was always concerned about her spiritual growth and ours as well. Goodbye, Mother.
