So sorry for your loss. May you find comfort in the words spoken at Revelation 21:3,4 With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: “Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his people. And God himself will be with them. And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away".

I wrote this note to Darrell at 9:30 A.M. on Nov.26th. I never got a chance to send it to him.

Darrell-Darrell
I miss our friendship and think of you often. I rue the way things are and the way I thought it would be. I remember the regard I held for a young coach in the 80's at Pulaski Heights Jr. High. He was strong, stern, and demanding (traits I admired and thought appropriate) His successes and rapport with players led to his elevation to the staff at LR Central ( a natural progression) where I always assumed that he was being groomed to be the next Central Tiger Head Coach.
Life is often unpredictable and time always marches on and on. You have dealt with your ups and downs with dignity and honor.
Know that you are admired and appreciated. If me and mine can be of assistance in any way, please contact us. I miss my friend.
Yours in the Bonds of Coaching Fellowship,
Glenn Eskola
At his memorial service it was asked what word described Darrell - steadfast. Darrell was steadfast in all he believed .

I am so sorry I couldn't be in attendance at Coach Seward's memorial services. So I am sending my sincere condolences to the Seward family. Coach Seward was a token of good spirit, faith, and intergity. I enjoyed the conversations we had about athletics and just life in general. He inspired many young people, and he was never at a loss of words with his words of encourgement and wisdom. He'll be sadly missed, and I'm so thankful like many others that I got the opportunity to share those care free moments with outstanding man, friend, teammate, and coach. God bless you Lisa. I pray God's enduring love comforts you at this time.

Darrell and I first met at First Baptist here in Stillwater. We became good friends in high school and spent many a good time together after high school. He would visit his mother every summer and we would get together, eat at Eskimo Joe's, have a cold beer. I visited him once after HS in magnolia and I remember while there he set a state record in the high jump. Ill miss you Darrell Seward, God took you too early, he got a really good man. My condolences to his family, God Bess. Ken B.

I had the pleasure of being taught by Coach Seward at Pulaski Heights Junior High. He was straight forward and expected nothing but the best from his students. You had no choice but to respect him because he was the kind of man who commanded it. He was'nt a mean person but you knew he meant business when he opened his mouth to speak. I am forever grateful for his dedication to teaching and coaching. Thank You for all that you have done Coach Seward.....Job Well Done Faithful Servant! God Bless and My Condolences to his family.

I met Coach Seward in Junior high school. As a young girl, I thought him to be so handsome. As my Science teacher and one of the teacher coach sponsors for our school, Southwest Mustangs, I knew him to be a caring, fair and dedicated teacher to all of us. He touched and inspired many of us and was that cool teacher we all loved. He taught us that we had to take care of business but business could be fun with hard work and preparation.
My condolences to his family and close friends. He is a good man that impacted many.

My relation with Darrell started with sports and ended in friendship. He was a great ballplayer for the Buschwackers and a fine mentor for young men and women probably a snapshot of what America is and what it means to have a life of worth.

His personality and coaching style made a great impression on my life. I would see coach around Little Rock and visit and talk about life in general. I will always remember the lessons he taught me In/Out of the classroom and that big wonderful Smile!

To this day with the impact that he had on me as an 8th and 9th Grader at Southwest Junior High (82-84) I am Blessed to walk (Putting One foot in front of the other) a Great deal stronger because of Coach Darrell Seward! He challenged me not just as an athlete and leader, but also as a Man! He spoke life into me and gave me the courage to trust and believe in who I am and would become and he always pressed the issue "to Whom much is given much is required!' It is because of Coach that I know of several Black men in this world from my neighborhood, that we learned to Love people of another race and see life as not just as the Game, but see people as being apart of The Team! Together and Grateful we all are as we all share, we say to you the man who provided for all of us so much from life lessons of pride, to learning to drive a stick, to being a leader, to being trusted, and taking personal responsibility! We are forever Thankful Coach! I Love You man! God's Blessings to You and your Family Forever!!

Darrell and I got to know each other as junior high track coaches. He was instrumental in allowing my team to compete in LR track meets. That was something Darrell wanted and made it happen. He was one of the most competitive guys I’ve ever been around. We were able to have lunch together one more time recently and rehashed a lot of good memories. I will truly miss Darrell.

Coach Seward was a blessing to so many. I remember him from Pulaski Heights Junior High 1987-1989. He would always let us come in his classroom on those cold mornings we had to wait outside. As an athlete, we would often have games after school and many of us would walk down to Burger King for a bite to eat before the games. Coach Seward sponsored sooooo many who often didn’t have any money. I remember thinking he was so “cool.” He always encouraged us to push a little harder and believe in ourselves. Now, I try to be that same type of educator and advocate for students and I pray I leave a mark a portion of the size Coach Seward did for so many of us. Rest well. God is pleased with your service. Prayers for his family.

Marion and I have been very blessed to have Darrell and Lisa as friends; and I was blessed to be their pastor and officiate at their wedding. We need more good Christian examples like them. His loss will be felt by all who knew and loved him, but his legacy will spread far and wide as a Christian coach and educator and a family man.

Darrell Seward was one of the classiest human beings I have ever known. I have missed seeing him on the sidelines of games since his retirement. I will miss him more now. Our students could use a lot more role models like Darrell. I was pleasantly surprised to see him and our friend Stan in an airport last summer. They were headed to a track meet. I hope that he was able to do many of those things he loved up to the end. I pray for peace and comfort for his family.
