Leava Darwin ''Dean'' Strickland, 86, of Greenbrier, went to be with the Lord Wednesday August 28, 2019. He was born February 16, 1933 in Pineland, TX to Van Dee and Zilpha Strickland. He was preceded in death by brothers, J.B., Herbert, I.D., A. W., and Robert, sisters, Gladys, Miriam, Claudine and Arlene, half-sisters, Elsie and Thelma and his parents.
Dean served in the United States Air Force, retiring after 20 years. He also was a Professor of Criminal Justice at Washburn University in Topeka, KS. Dean retired as the Director of Court Services in Shawnee County, KS. He was a Deacon and faithful member of First Baptist Church of Greenbrier.
Dean is survived by his wife of over 64 years, Ileva Strickland, daughter, Terry (Thomas) Mack, grand daughter, Michelle McCown, great- grandchildren, Michael Gast and Autumn McCown, great-great grandchildren, Anistyn, Aaliah and Allyson Gast, and many other nieces, nephews, friends and relatives.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at 10:00AM at Roller McNutt Funeral Home in Greenbrier. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at 9:00AM. Interment will be in Holly Mountain Cemetery.
