James David Henry, 86, of Greenbrier formally of Sherwood, passed away June 29, 2019. He was born January 18, 1933 in Williford, Arkansas to the late David Henderson and Tobitha Viola Henry. James was a 1951 graduate of Williford High School, received his Bachelor of Science from Arkansas State College in 1962, and his Master of Public Health from The University of Michigan in 1966. He retired with 30 years from the Arkansas State Health Department. James served in the US Army during the Korean war in Germany. He loved music especially playing the guitar, bass, fiddle, and even mandolin; James enjoyed volunteering to play for veterans and traveled with a band from the VA Hospital.
He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Elva Henry, two nieces, nephew, cousins and several more family and friends.
James was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters.
Graveside Service will be 3:00 PM on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at Martinville Cemetery with Bro. Bob Robinson officiating.
Ms. Elva, I am so very sorry to hear of Jim’s demise. I should’ve visited you both these last few years. My health has deteriorated so that I’ve had spells where I couldn’t even walk. I’m walking again very slowly using a cane & im trying so hard to get better bc I’d like to live the rest of my days with no pain, praying for that.ðŸ™ðŸ»ðŸ’žYou know I love you, Elva, & I hope you’ll call me since I don’t know where you are. I hope I make it to heaven to be with him & all of my loved ones who’ve gone on. I an sorry to hear of John’s passing. I would like to extend my condolences to the family during their time of grief. Revelation 21:4 provides us with comfort and hope. “And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes,+ and death will be no more,+ neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore.+ The former things have passed away.”
