December 29, 1936 - June 23, 2020

Edward (Ed) Burns, 83, of Conway, Arkansas passed away June 23, 2020. He was born December 29, 1936 in Moro, Arkansas to the late Willard and Ila Burns. His childhood was spent in Monroe County, AR.

Ed retired as a SMSGT from the United States Air Force in 1976 after a 22 year career. His first military assignment in 1954 was basic training in Denver, CO. While in Denver, he met Martha Duran, the woman who would become his bride in 1955. They were married for 62 years until her passing in 2017. Together they had 4 children and traveled around the world from base to base. He was also a Veteran of the Vietnam War.

To satisfy his thirst for knowledge, he went on to receive several Associate Degree's after his retirement. He worked off and on in the field of appliance repair for several years. He was a volunteer at Conway Regional Hospital for 8 years. Ed's humor demanded your attention. But what he will most be remembered for is his columns and letters to the editors in local newspaper in Van Buren and Faulkner county. Often making us laugh about his marriage, his grandchildren and his love of golf. The sport where to him it wasn't about your score! It was about how many lost golf balls of previous players he could find during the game.

Ed is survived by his children, Randy Burns (Brenda) of Parump, NV, Scott Burns (Laura) of Pueblo, CO, Audrey Burns (Donald) of Bigelow, AR, and Adele Shackelford (Tommy) of Conway, AR, his sister, Evelyn Brown of Brinkley, AR, grandchildren David Harris (Tammy), Jackie Andis (Brian), Jordyn Allen, Karlee Allen all of Conway, AR. Brandon Burns of New Orleans, LA, Wendlin Burns and Katrina Burns of Pueblo, CO, Braxton Burns-Brunson of Bigelow, AR, and Michael Burns of Las Vegas, NV. He was also blessed with 5 great grandchildren. One grandson preceded Ed in death, Bryan Burns of Racine, WI.

Ed and Martha will be placed together at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock.
