Larry "Sonny" Gene Harris

of Vilonia, AR

February 13, 1944 - November 25, 2019

Our loving Husband, Dad, Pappa, Father-in-law, Brother, Uncle, and friend, Larry "Sonny" Harris, went to his heavenly home on Monday, November 25, 2019 at Baptist Hospital in Conway. He was born the second child to Bruce Grady and Arbell Harris at Vilonia on February 13, 1944. He met the love of his life, Linda Joyce Lee when she was in the 9th grade. They celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on March 28th.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Bruce Grady Harris and Arbell; his sister, Mary Harris Nolen

He is survived by his best friend, his wife, Linda Joyce; two sons, Shawn Allen Harris (Tahnya) of Floyd and Brandon Lee Harris (Rose) of Vilonia; seven grandchildren, Ashley Harris, Jace Harris (Kelli) of Quitman, Grace Harris, Shayde Harris, Grady Harris, Bristol Harris, and Harlee Harris; two great-grandchildren, Bentley and Heidi; brother, Bruce Harris (Debbie) of Enola; niece, Sandy Kay Perkins of Phoenix, AZ; and a host of family and friends.

Sonny was a faithful, lifelong member of the Landmark Missionary Baptist Church at Vilonia. For 27 years, Sonny served as a Justice of the Peace for Faulkner County. He owned and operated H & H Asphalt, along with Harris Brother's Trucking for over 50 years.

Sonny passed his love and legacy of rodeo down to his sons and grandchildren. Sonny was an avid supporter and fan and spent most weekends on the road watching and supporting his kids and grandkids do what they love, whether rodeo, showing livestock or playing sports.

Sonny's kind heart, helping hand, and the encouragement he gave to all are only a few of the reasons he was loved by so many, especially his rodeo family.

Visitation will be Friday, November 29th at Conway Cowboy Church in Conway from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Saturday, November 30th at 10:00 a.m. at Conway Cowboy Church in Conway with Dr. Randy Cloud and Brother Verlon Wood Officiating. Pallbearers are Bill Jones, Dennis Rappold, Frankie Rushing, Harold McCain, Jeff Lee, Nelson Landers, Raymond Evatt, and Stephen Ware. Honorary Pallbearers are Don Avery, Earl Keaton, Kimmie Manning, Lynn Tubbs, Max Dollar, Robert Dauzat, and Ronnie Brown. Burial will follow at Crestlawn Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway.

Wow, Sonny was one of these guys you never thought of passing away, he was always here or there, but never thought of him as being gone. He will greatly be missed by his family, community, rodeo arenas throughout , and his friends that always looked up to him, like me. Since I first started knowing "Uncle Sonny" (my girls called him) even though we weren't kin to him. You see all the rodeo or FFA kiddos they associated with, called him "Uncle Sonny" too. Always straight up & honest with a person and very well respected by thousands of people. Prayers for all of the family and especially his sidekick for 55 years - Mrs. Linda. So very sorry!
